Thomas J. Klutznick Company is a privately held real-estate investment, development and consulting firm headquartered in Chicago with offices in Denver and Phoenix. The company, through affiliates, has been involved with the planning and ownership of Desert Ridge from the project’s inception.
In addition to involvement with Desert Ridge, Thomas J. Klutznick Company developed the 200,000-square-foot retail complex at 730 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Tenants include Tiffany & Co., Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Polo/Ralph Lauren and American Girl Place. The company also developed The Peninsula Chicago Hotel, recognized as the nation’s top hotel in the 2005 Zagat Survey, above the 730 North Michigan Avenue retail development.
Along with development activities, Thomas J. Klutznick Company has provided consulting and planning services to some of the nation’s largest corporations including General Dynamics, Pacific Gas & Electric and McDonald’s Corporation. Services provided include portfolio review and analysis, acquisition and disposition strategies, property repositioning and redevelopment, zoning and entitlements work and traditional development services.
The principal and president of the company, Thomas J. Klutznick, has been involved in the real-estate industry for more than 40 years. He has experience developing, operating and owning virtually every type of real-estate product: mixed-use, office, retail, hotel, resort, residential and planned community. Among his projects are some of the nation’s highest-profile properties, including: Water Tower Place, Chicago; The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago; Copley Place, Boston; 333 West Wacker Drive, Chicago; Fox Plaza, Los Angeles; The Peninsula Chicago Hotel, Chicago; The Little Nell, Aspen, Colorado; The Inn and Links at Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach, California.
